This weekend is the first weekend of Celebration 2012, a celebration of arts and nature in Surlingham and Rockland. A wide range of events in both villages is planned and an updated programme can be found under ‘special events’ on Surlingham.org.  Most events are ‘drop in’ although a few arts workshops do have to be booked.

Families with young children are particularly welcome for  ‘Weave a walk’  at The Rectory, 10-4 Saturday, 2-4 Sunday.  There is a barbecue at Coldham from 6pm on Saturday and Surlingham’s Broadnotes choir will be singing at Coldham Hall at 3pm on Sunday.  And if you fancy trying out the church bells do come along to a demonstration and ‘have a go’ on Sunday at 5pm at St Mary’s.

In Rockland this weekend you can do printmaking, animation and make medals or book yourself in for a stone mason’s or photography workshop.  There will also be canoe trails, nature walks, art exhibitions and boat trips.
