Will Fitch, the warden at Wheatfen, led parishioners on a lovely guided walk around the Ted Ellis nature reserve at Wheatfen this morning.
Wheatfen is home to a wide range of wildlife, rare fen flowers, dragonflies, birds and the iconic Swallowtail butterfly.
Highlights today included sighting the larvae of the Galleruca Beetle, which is not found anywhere else in the UK, and of course no trip to Wheatfen would be complete without seeing the aforementioned Swallowtail Butterfly; although they wouldn’t stay still long enough to photograph!
Many thanks to Will for his time, passion and informative commentary.
