This Sunday 1st December there is an opportunity to get involved with a practical conservation task from 10am at Wheatfen, being organised by the South Yare Wildlife Group. The task is to plant new hedging along the edge of the the Wherryman’s Way public footpath at Wheatfen, Surlingham. The trees have been provided by South Norfolk District Council, with help from the parish tree warden, Cathy Terry. Spades and other tools will be provided.
All we ask is for willing volunteers to assist with digging some holes, setting the trees in, and fitting the protective guards, so there is something for all abilities to get involved with. If you would like to come along, stout boots and warm clothes are strongly recommended. There is a total of 35 metres worth of hedging to plant out in the gaps along the path, so we are aiming to finish about 1pm.
Please contact Dan Hoare beforehand to confirm attendance or if you have any questions about the task. Dan’s contact details are 01508 538157 or firstname.lastname@example.org
