Thank you so, so much to everyone who helped to organise & who supported the Surlingham Festival 2016, which took place at Padmaloka last Saturday.

The Festival would not have been such a success if there hadn’t been the huge amount of work put into the organisation and setting up, and equally if we had not had so many willing volunteers to help run the event.

So a huge THANK YOU to…

  • The Festival Committee, for putting the Festival together & making it happen…we have just about recovered!

  • The Padmaloka community, for their hard work – before, during & after – and for willingly letting us host the Festival from their beautiful grounds

  • Everyone who took the time to make entries for the Handmade & Produce of Surlingham competitions and to vote for their Unsung Hero

  • People who provided donated items for the various stalls

  • All the very generous local businesses who donated raffle prizes & who sponsored the Programme

  • Local business, Aitch2, for the beautiful advertising material

  • Those who provided their own marquees & gazebos to help create more covered areas and to Tim & Will Mack for the hay bales

  • The many local groups & volunteers who came along to run stalls & activities, some from outside the village

  • The kind people who helped to set up, particularly the Padmaloka community, and to clear away, especially Mandy & Paul Archer

  • Those who provided the announcements (‘Claxon Clive’..thank you!), the judging, the entertainment & the live music, and, of course…

  • Everyone who came out, on a day which had heavy rain forecast…not sure how we virtually avoided that, but thankfully we did!… to give their support and to enjoy the Programme of activities & entertainment.

It was such a fantastic day and the feedback has been that everyone who attended had a really great time.

The coppers have been counted up and the numbers almost worked out!, and the final profit figure will be announced next week. We will be inviting groups & individuals to put their proposals for community projects which the fundraising might be able to contribute to, to the Festival Committee, in the coming weeks.

Thank you, one & all. We look forward to seeing you at future events.
