If you are a Surlingham writer or actor we, at St Mary’s church, want to give you the opportunity to tell us a story. To help you, we are offering the church as a space where you can read, aloud to an audience, a story which you have written or a piece by an author which has influenced you. Echo inscriptions on bells of St Mary’s:- that on the Tenor bell reads: ‘I call to the people of the past’ and on the Treble bell: ‘I call to the people of the future’. If you have a story to tell, this is your call!
The Event will take place on the evening of Saturday 25 May, beginning at 7p.m.
St. Mary’s has evolved into a unifying venue for community and cultural events in addition to its historic role as a place of worship. The acoustics include amplification and have been highly commended.
For further details on how to apply for a slot in this Event, please respond via ‘Contact Us’.

Would you like to try your hand at some traditional country skills?
Perhaps you have heritage skills that you would like to share with others? This Spring we are beginning a series of rural skills workshops on Alderfen Marshes to facilitate sharing, learning and passing on some of these valuable skills.
Click here to see the current selection of planned workshops. Let us know if you would like to take part as a participant or if you have a rural skill which you would be interested in sharing in a future workshop.

Another gentle winter quiz at 8pm on February 8th, and all are welcome. Come as a team or we can find you one if there are only one or two of you. If you are eating it is best if you book a table and aim to finish your meal by 8pm.
