The Bugs and Beasties display in St Mary’s Church from June 2024

This summer’s display at St Mary’s Church Surlingham is being launched at an Afternoon Social on Saturday 8th June from 2:30pm. There will also be a pop up art gallery and you’ll be able to read the community poem made up from suggestions at April’s event.

All contributions of bugs, beasties and insects, whether real or imaginary, are most welcome. Please leave them in the box in the church porch or at Mayfield, Ferry Road. If you need inspiration take a look at these lovelies left by Tracy Rayner in the church porch.

Beef in this week!

Hello you lovely people. Just a quick note to let you know our latest batch of fresh farm reared beef will be with us in the shop from this Friday the 26th April 2024. There will be a huge array of cuts so do not miss out. It will also be our rare breed Belted Galloway.
Alec will be here as usual tomorrow Thurs 25th April 2024 1:30pm until 3pm and is a not miss with his selection of fresh fish.
The shop is full to the brim with goodies including pizzas, ready meals, icecream, chocolate, oils, cheese, veg (strawberries and asparagus is just in too!) as well as milk, eggs and much much more. We have also massively increased our range of dried herbs and spices (the rack just above the chest freezer). Do always message us via info@yarevalleyoils.co.uk if you have any questions or would like to see any particular products in. We are open 8am until 9pm every single day including bank holidays and weekends!

Teles are open as per every day except Mondays for your sweet, savoury and liquid needs.

Whatever you do and wherever you are… have a super week

Bugs and Beasties at St Mary’s Church

The summer exhibition at St Mary’s Church will be themed Bugs and Beasties. Get your creative juices, flowing and fashion an insect that crawls, jumps or slides, either real or imaginary. Leave your creations either in the box in the church porch, or at Mayfield, Ferry Road.

There will be an afternoon social at St Mary’s Church on Saturday 27th of April 2-4.30pm. As well as delicious refreshments there will be a Bugs, Beasties and Bats workshop to make exhibits for the church summer exhibition and to support the talk on bats to be given on 13th July at the church.

I would like to create a community poem, entitled “Insect Musings” so I hope people will (anonymously if you like) write a few words or short sentence about the creepy crawlies that share the planet with us. A box for submissions will be provided.

The handbells have been refurbished and will be on display.

Hopefully Mark and Sue Walland, who carried out the refurbishment, will be there to demonstrate how to ring them.

There will also be a display of handcrafts and textiles.

All in all, an afternoon, not to be missed!
