Feedback urgently needed – Church extension

As you may know the village has been raising money to put a kitchen and toilet extension in the church for some time. We have recently submitted an application for a ‘big’ grant which could make this a real possibility in the near future.  BUT the funders have just asked us to supply ‘evidence’ of how the church would be used if it had these facilities, especially during the day when the village hall is being used by the school.

So PLEASE, could you suggest activities (exhibitions, WI, teas, coffees, yoga, , book club…) which you would like to take place in the church if there was a toilet and refreshments.  DO PLEASE email via the CONTACT US on the web site, your suggestions could make all the difference.

Great venue for art/photographic exhibitions. Daytime art classes (maybe botanical). Inspirational setting for daytime flower arranging classes, wonderful to see arrangements in various positions around the church.
Often on walks by the river thought it would be great if there was somewhere to have tea and cakes, great daytime social venue for people in the village. What a great location the church would be for a ‘pop up’ cafe on sunny afternoons with proceeds going to the upkeep of the church. Would also be great to offer refreshments to the many visitors to Surlingham who come to walk, birdwatch, cycle, follow the Wherryman’s Way. These visitors often visit the church too and are very interested in the history of the church and village.
