FOSS Scarecrow Trail Results and A Massive Thank You

First things first! Thank you so much to everyone who made and entered scarecrows in last weekend’s Trail and competition. The amount of creativity and work which had gone into the scarecrows was incredible and the village was truly transformed by the army of little people, and animals all with their own charm and personality on corners, in gardens, in trees…
Walking round the trail on Saturday morning took a very long time – not just because there was so much to look at, but also because it seemed like the whole village were out and about enjoying the show and chatting on the streets! Everyone certainly had their favourites, but with so much variety it was impossible to tell who might end up the ‘peoples favourite’ scarecrow at the end of the weekend.
At the end of the FOSS Summer Fayre on Sunday afternoon, the voting box was broken into and the votes were counted.  There was a good spread of votes but a clear winner stood out – Well Done to Lewis Varley, a pupil at Surlingham School whose scarecrow number 8, Wayne Rooney, was the overall winner.  Lewis was presented with the £25 prize at the end of the Fayre and was really chuffed to be the favourite!
Other scarecrows with lots of votes were as follows:
  • Number 1 (Charlie the Lamb)
  • Number 4 (Golfer, cricketer and train driver)
  • Number 19 (The beautiful giant cat)
  • Number 21 (A couple who had enjoyed a few too many?!)
  • Number 33 (Archie having a wee in a boat!)
  • Number 34 (Wright family and Bridie dog)
And finally a reminder that if you would like to hold onto your scarecrow until August 30th, they will be displayed in the grounds of Padmaloka during the Village Fayre. Further details nearer the time!
Thanks again for all your efforts….photos to follow, so please watch this space!
