St Mary’s Bells

Following the quinquennial inspection of St Mary’s, the architect responsible has expressed concern about the safety of the tower due to apparent cracking of the external masonry and deterioration in the internal beams.
She has said that we must not ring at the moment and must wait for a full structural survey to be carried out by an engineer.
Sadly this means that we cannot ring for the Carol Service on Sunday or on Christmas Day and must wait for the engineer’s report before we plan any more bell ringing at St Mary’s.
