A message from Carla Russell, Sylvia’s daughter in law.
Following on from my post yesterday, it is with great sorrow to have to Inform you of the passing of Sylvia.
She passed away peacefully last night in her own home surrounded by her family. We would like to thankyou all for the lovely messages which have been a great comfort to us all at this very sad time
I have so many fond memories of Sylvia. My condolences to the family.
Syliva had a great heart and such Community spirit opening the post office in her garage as she was worried about the elderly people in the village when the previous one closed. Myself and my children loved going in after school and always welcomed and she knew and cared for all the children. We all need a Syliva in our villages
Rosie (Smithson)

Condolences to Carla and the family – Sylvia was one of those rare people who made a real difference to many others’ lives. She, and her village shop, were one of the key pivots around which our village and community turned and she will be much missed.
I can’t help but think she must be so cross at the enforced rest, as she was always one of the world’s workers.
Our best wishes
Karen and Nick Francis
We d like to send our heartfelt condolences to all your family . Sylvia made such a memorable contribution to the village and was one of the first people to make us welcome here.
She will not be forgotten.
