30 mph speed limit extended

At long last the 30 mph speed limit on Bramerton Road has been extended so it covers all of the village.  The parish council has lobbied for this for some considerable time as part of its drive to improve road safety within Surlingham.  Surlingham Parish Council greatly appreciates the efforts of Councillor Vic Thompson on our behalf and thanks him for his support on this issue.

Update on fibre broadband in Surlingham

After the announcement for County Broadband that they are not proceeding with the installation you may have seen City Fibre vans near recent road closures in the village. City Fibre are an infrastructure installer who do not manage the broadband service but click here for their website which details the retailers associated with them.

The project is part of ‘Project Gigabit’. A government initiative to upgrade data services in rural areas. Click here for their website. Click here for the BBC article that specifically mentions Surlingham although it seems that the installation firm identified is Openreach not City Fibre.

According to Vic Thomson (our Councillor for South Norfolk) City Fibre will be contacting residents early next year to arrange connection to properties in the village.
