REMINDER! Scarecrow Competition Entry Forms Due Soon!!

We have a good number of scarecrows in the planning already….but a gentle reminder for those who have not yet entered.

Please could anyone planning to make a scarecrow for our trail submit their entry form as soon as possible (official date for entries Mon 16th – some flexibility may be possible for late entries!).  This will enable us to put you on the trail map so that visitors to the trail will know where to look.  Entries can be dropped off at the Shop, School Office or The Nest, Mill Road.

Anyone still requiring an entry form or with questions can call Victoria Wright on 01508 538132 or 07789 730688.

Thanks to Ian Stiff there is a huge bale of straw in the front garden of The Nest freely available to scarecrow makers (just bring along some bin bags to fill and help yourselves).

We are looking forward to a great weekend of Scarecrow and Summer Fayre fun on the 28th and 29th so please do join in and make our trail bigger and better!

Information received from Victoria Wright

Really funny comedy at Bramrocks tonight and tomorrow: Review

A rip roaring trip from Ancient Egypt to modern London with the Bramrocks last night.  This is a classic ‘innocents abroad’ comedy with the cast making the most of the rich script written by Nick Dixey specially for this performance.  Highlights include two Ancient Egyptians serving pizza to ever numerous customers and a troublesome gangster being dispatched in an innovative way!

Surlingham’s Alexandra Evans is really funny as high priestess Maya but its a strong ensemble cast that makes a rib tickling evening with some laugh out lound moments that stay with you until the next day.  A must see!

(Suitable for children – tickets available on the door for both performances)

Surlingham Graveyard Map: A and B pages now live

People who’s names begin with A or B can now be searched and located in St Mary’s graveyard.  To find the location of the grave, enter the name of the person you are searching for in the field under the text ‘Search the site’ at the top right of each page and follow the links to the page with the information.  Over time we will put more and more pages with other surnames, also searchable.

The compilation of this information was done in 2009 by Graham Loveday King who kindly donated it to Surlingham.org.  Transcription into an internet searchable form has been done by us.  Due to the volume of data some mistakes may have crept in for which we apologise in advance.  Please use Contact us to make us aware of any necessary changes.  The graveyard map is reproduced on each page of the listing and can also be accessed by clicking here.  We hope that these pages form a valuable archive for anyone searching for a grave in the churchyard or building.
