Surlingham

This Friday Carol Singing from 6pm at The Ferry.  Followed by Live Music at 8.30pm with TOSH.  Should be a good night getting us all in the festive spirit, look forward to seeing you.

Come along to  carol singing with The Surlingham Broadnotes choir.  Everyone is welcome.

Coldham Hall on Wednesday (19th) at 7.30pm and /or

The Ferry on Friday (21st) at 6pm.

I live in Bramerton and am researching a story about Susannah Holmes from Surlingham who in 1783 was sentenced to death for theft, reprieved and eventually transported in 1786 to Australia with her husband Henry Cabell and baby son Henry Jnr.  as part of the so-called ‘First Fleeters’ to reach Botany Bay. I am interested in the (slight) possibility of any descendants  of Susannah still living locally or elsewhere in Norfolk.

Request received from Dick Meadows

Don’t forget this year’s concerts are on Wednesday 19th December at 7:30pm – Coldham Hall and Friday 21st December at 6:00pm – Ferry House.

We have just heard that we have been awarded a grant of £37,959 from the Norfolk Community Construction Fund for the toilet and kitchen extension to the to the church.  This means that we have enough money for the project and work can start in the New Year.  The project will also provide a permanent disabled access.

The new facilities will enable the church to host a much wider range of community and church events and make it an inviting venue for exhibitions and concerts.
