Surlingham

Highways England will be carrying out essential drainage renewal works at the above location. During this work, damaged safety barriers, signs, road markings and studs will be replaced.

The work will be completed over 8 weeks working between the hours of 8pm to 6am, subject to weather conditions.

Due to the extensive amount of work on this project, the programme has three phases. Liaison with  county, district and parish councillors have agreed the most suitable diversion routes for each phase as detailed below:

Phase 1: A47 eastbound between Trowse Newton and Cucumber Lane roundabout, starting Monday 8 June to Friday 24 July (7 weeks)

Eastbound traffic will be diverted off the A47 at Trowse Newton onto the A146. Then follow the A146 until Gillingham and the A143 to re-join the A47 at Beccles. We expect this diversion to add approximately 10 to 15 minutes to your journey. (Diagram 1)

Phase 2: A47 eastbound Trowse Newton exit slip road, starting Monday 27 July to Friday 31 July (4 nights)

Eastbound traffic wanting to leave the A47 at Trowse Newton will be diverted to Postwick roundabout and come back along the A47 westbound to Trowse Newton. We expect this diversion to add approximately 5 to 10 minutes to your journey. (Diagram 2)

Phase 3: A47 eastbound Trowse Newton entry slip road, starting Thursday 30 July to Friday 31 July (1 night)

Eastbound traffic wanting to join the A47 at Trowse Newton will be diverted along the A146 (Loddon road) to join the A47 westbound at the Harford roundabout back along the A47 eastbound. We expect this diversion to add approximately 5 to 10 minutes to your journey. (Diagram 3)

Hello from the farm you all you lovely people. Just a quick update to say we have fresh Beef from the farm, more to arrive next Thursday, we have some charcoal from the Norfolk Broads in this Friday. Took a while to source it, but we thought it would be great to have a charcoal for your BBQ’s from right here on the Norfolk Broads.

Lots of flour and dried yeast in, fresh strawberries, cream, veg, Bramerton Salad, cheese, fish, icecream, ready meals, oils, kitchen cupboard essentials, eggs, asparagus (at its best price and wont be in season much longer) and more.

On Wednesday 27th May at 10:30am, we’re launching a weekly Art Cafe, aimed at anyone who’s interested in art and drinking coffee in a virtual group!

Following last month’s extraordinary response from our community, Chrissie Ryding will be delivering the next Surlingham food parcel to The Trussell Food Bank in Norwich on Monday 1st June.

If you would like to contribute, please leave your donations in her porch at The Willows, 16 The Street by 8am on Monday. Chrissie would like to give thanks to the person who has already left a bag of goodies on her doorstep 😊

The food bank have advised that they would particularly like tinned tomatoes and pasta sauces. Tinned and dried food that will last is ideal and preferable to fresh food with a limited shelf life.

The Old Feathers on the A146 is currently running a contact-free take away service (excluding Sunday evening and all day Monday). You order by phone and the pick up is well organised. The take out menu is below but for more details  CLICK HERE
