What a performance if you are lucky enough to be going this evening you are in for a real treat.

The Surlingham Lunch Club was invited and the members who stayed thoroughly enjoyed it as did I.

The songs, scripts, music, scene changes, choreography and jokes all brilliant. Badger’s reference to Gareth Southgate’s waistcoat wasn’t missed. The staging certainly made a difference by projecting the children’s voices, even the quietest could be heard.

The children and the teaching staff have worked so hard and have every reason to be proud of themselves.

If you are lucky enough to be going this evening be prepared to ‘dig deep’ admission and refreshments are free but, the school are fundraising for stage lighting.

I’ve just noticed the request about roadside hedge trimming on the website and wonder if you could very politely remind people that although we’re coming to the end of the breeding season, it is vital to check carefully for nesting birds when considering trimming since to disturb them is illegal, and the RSPB guidance is that we refrain from cutting hedges between March and August.

Well. It is all go. Joaquim and Ana are now settling in nicely into their new home here on the farm with their wonderful Teles Patisserie. It is open 9am-5pm Tues-Sun and has fresh bread, cakes, coffee and refreshments in a beautiful tranquil setting on a real working farm. As well as this you can pop down to use our Timeshare Swimming Pool, just ring 01508 538206 to book you own swim in half hour slots. You get the pool all to yourself.

We then also have our own unique self service Yare Valley Farm shop. Here you can find our seed to bottle oils, dressings and infusions, our delicious farm reared beef and lots and lots of local goodies. Well worth a visit and is open 8am-9pm every single day come rain or shine or weekends/ bank holidays. Check out the farm plan map below.

A perfect little stop, whether by car, foot or cycle.

With us, The Ferry and Coldham Hall, Sylvia and the wonderful Surlingham Shop, Post office and services and much more there is little need to leave the village anymore ;-).

NR14 7AL by foot or cycle from The Covey or use NR14 7GD by car, foot or cycle if coming via Mill Road and simply look out for the signs. Please use car park as signposted on the right at the end of the long drive.

A concern has been raised with The Parish Council regarding overgrown hedges, shrubs, trees etc.

Areas highlighted are Walnut Hill where the roadway is reduced and drivers risk damage to their vehicles when two vehicles pass. Bramerton Road and New Road obscures drivers view and/or road signs and endangers pedestrians. Similarly, overgrown shrubs on Mill Road are reducing the width of the footpath forcing pedestrians nearer to the road in order to avoid the thorns.

The problem is not limited to these areas, the Parish Council would appreciate it if all property and land owners could check and cut back any that are likely to cause a problem.

(Temporary Closure) Order 2018

Notice is given that the Secretary of State for Transport has approved the continuing in force for the period set out below of an Order made by the Norfolk County Council under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, prohibiting the use by the public of the footpath Surlingham Footpath 2 from its junction with Surlingham Footpath 3 for a distance of 190 metres southwards in the PARISH OF SURLINGHAM

Date of Order:    22^nd day of February 2018

Period of extension:   5^th day of February 2019 or until completion of the works, whichever is earlier.

Alternative route is via: N/A

Persons who contravene the Order will be liable, on conviction, to a fine.
