Revised Working Party Day for Hellington and Rockland St Mary Community Reserve
I hope you enjoyed our recent Newsletter, and as we reported we are now ready for our autumn working party.
We were fortunate to receive a grant from Norfolk Wildlife Trust to enable to encourage a better diversity of flora this area has the north marsh land by cutting the matted tall grasses and other plants. The reciprocating mower has machined raked waste vegetation into rows. Ideally, this mass of vegetation now needs to be moved … and that’s where volunteers are sorely needed! The marshy conditions do not allow for larger mechanised vehicles on the site so the vegetation will have to be loaded on to tarpaulins (some forks will be required) and dragged to the edge of the marsh.
We have just decided to postpone the weekend due to awful forecast. The meadow is very wet at present and the forecast suggests a drier week coming up and lets hope it dries out by next weekend.
The arrangement will be as planned, so there will be refreshments, tarpaulins and good company.
If you can spare time to come and give a hand, the work day is on Sunday 27th November from 10am.
There is no parking on site, so please walk to the reserve on foot (the map attached shows the location of the reserve together with nearby footpaths). Alternatively we can offer a ‘park and ride’ if you can be at the Rockland St Mary staithe at 9.45am (or any other time by arrangement). If you need further information please email kaarin@wizgraphics.co.uk or telephone 01508 480780.

Monies available for community projects!!!

Following the very enjoyable and successful 2016 Surlingham Festival held at Padmaloka in September, there are still funds of around £1600 available to local groups & projects that will provide new & improved community activities and facilities.
So that the Festival Committee can look at & consider all applications for community funding consistently and to make sure the correct records are held, we have put together this simple application form.
If you have a community group or project that you need some monies for, please fill in the application form and either post it or email it to Nick Francis, Festival Committee Treasurer (Nick’s details are on the form).
It would be fantastic to see the monies raised invested back into the community for the benefit of as many people as possible. And we will publish details of what the funds will be used for on a regular basis.
