Surlingham

After five years’ work researching original material, John and Christine Glynn of Hares Farm House have just produced a 134-page book, fully illustrated, about the history of their house. Entitled SECOND HOUSE ON LEFT IN SURLINGHAM: 400 Years of a Norfolk Farmhouse, it reveals the hidden secrets of the building and traces the fortunes of the families associated with the property since Shakespeare’s time.
It is a valuable resource for Surlingham’s history, in the tradition of Jack Points’ ground-breaking work on the village’s past. Indexed, with footnotes, it is available from the authors at a modest £9.99. Contact them on 01508 538372 Local orders delivered free.

There will be live music at The Ferry House, Surlingham this Saturday (13 August) between 4pm and 6.30pm with “Deano”. Deano does a variety of covers from the golden oldies to Robbie Williams and Madness! We have ordered sunshine for Surlingham and hopefully so long as the sun is obedient and arrives as ordered, the live music will take place outside by the river! We look forward to seeing you!

On the 8 August 2016 around 4pm whilst in the garden of my home on the Common, Ferry Corner, a large black dog and a large tan coloured dog entered our rear garden from the fields and attacked our disabled cat tossing it in the air. They then attacked our dog and when we intervened they ran off across the fields towards The Street. If you have any information I would be grateful if you could contact the police quoting incident number 3388, 8 August 2016.
