Wherryman’s Way meeting held 22nd June 2023

The Wherryman’s way stakeholder update run jointly by NCC and the Broads Authority took place on 22-6-23. NCC reported that the bid for additional CIL funding had been unsuccessful. NCC are now scoping options in order to optimise work against the current budget on the River Chet and Bramerton FP5 sections. NCC are seeking alternative funding to complete the project. CIL funding is for capital works so though this is a concern for the longer term it should not inhibit feasibility work against Surlingham FP1. Costings for the repairs to Bramerton FP5 are to be used to model potential costs for for the works required to repair Surlingham FP1 but feasibility work considering other options has no other dependency on the wider project. The request to manage the Surlingham FP1 feasibility as a parallel activity is being pursued offline. The next update is scheduled for 28th Sept 23.

Good afternoon all!

Just a quick note to say Alec and his Fish Van will not be here outside the Farm Shop tomorrow Thursday 20th July as he is away on Holiday. He will however be back again on Thursday 27th July 1:30pm until 3pm as normal.

We still have our 2x packs of frozen mince for only £6.50 on, but is selling fast so be sure not to miss out. Is a fab offer.

The shop is packed to the rafter with goodies, veg, pizzas, ready meals, eggs, milk, cheese, choccies, biccies, oils, kitchen cupboard essential, frozen goodies and much much more.

Have a soopper weekend all 🙂

County Broadband – Fibre broadband for the village

As some of you may already know, a representative of County Broadband has been approaching parishioners regarding installing fibre broadband in the village.

Surlingham’s representative is Harry Lowman. He can be contacted on harry.lowman@countybroadband.co.uk or 07944 048233, where he will be able to answer any of your queries or questions. He will be able to go through the offers available and see whether they meet individuals’ needs.

County Broadband require 20% of the village to sign up in order for them to provide this service to the whole village, also they will install fibre broadband to the Village Hall at no additional cost.

District and County Councillor Vic Thomson confirmed this will be the quickest way for Surlingham village to get fibre broadband as there are no other companies coming to the village anytime in the near future.
