Local resident taking on Everest base camp trek for charity.
Craig Neave is raising money for the East Anglian Children’s Hospice at Poringland by climbing to Everest base camp, and subject to altitude sickness, weather and body(!) is aiming on summiting Kala Patthar which is the highest altitude in the world that can be attempted without a climbing permit. The ascent of Kala Patthar (5644.5m) begins at Gorakshep (5164m or 16942 ft) and is the original base camp for Mount Everest.
It would be lovely to have support from local residents and business.
See his story here and training updates and please get in touch with Craig on 07957 660101 if you can help this amazing charity with raffle prizes, sponsorship etc

Craig will leave the UK on 28th October for 18 days which will include 11 days trekking to reach base camp and back.
Here are some comparable highest mountains of the world to emphasis the challenge ahead:
The highest points in:
• North America is Denali in Alaska (5500m)
• Europe is Shkhara in Georgia (5193m)
• Russia is Mount Elbrus (5642m)
• Antarctica is Venison Massif (4892m)
• Australia is Mount Kosciuszko (2228m)
Other comparable summits around Europe include:
• France – Mont Blanc (4809m)
• Switzerland-Matterhorn (4479m)
Information unsurprisingly supplied by Craig Neave 😊
