Holy Week services, Art Cafe and Easter

Dear All,

Holy Week begins this weekend with our Palm Sunday (10th) benefice communion service at Rockland church, 10am, followed by refreshments in the Barn. We will share the Passion Gospel and distribute palm crosses during the service.

On Tuesday 12th and Wednesday evenings 13th, Holy Week Night Prayer will be held in the Barn and on Zoom at 8pm, with a short art-based reflection at each service. If you wish to join us on Zoom, please use this link for both days.

Art Cafe Online: Passion art at 1:39am on Wednesday (13th) is an opportunity to bring and share images or objects that speak to us about the meaning of Holy Week. Your invitation is here

On Maundy Thursday (14th) we remember the Last Supper at 10am Communion at Claxton.

Good Friday (15th) we offer something for all ages at our 10am Family Service at Surlingham.

At 2pm on Good Friday (15th) the Watch by the Cross in the Barn and on Zoom will bring art, music, poetry and silence together. You’re welcome to join us in the Barn or use this Zoom link

Holy Saturday or Easter Eve (16th) marks the beginning of Easter worship with Lighting of the New Fire in Rockland Church, 7.30pm. This moving candlelit service reminds us of Christ’s light returning to the world at his resurrection.

Lots of services on Easter Sunday (17th):

  • 6:30am The return of the Sunrise Service on Rockland Staithe
  • 9.30am Morning Prayer at Carleton St. Peter. NOTE EARLIER TIME
  • 9.30am Communions at Claxton and Surlingham
  • 11am Communions at Kirby Bedon and Bramerton

April 20th sees this month’s Art Cafe in the Barn, from 10.30am until just before Noon come along for good company, fresh coffee and Easter eggs!

Yare Valley Farm Shop Update

Hi Everyone!

Now that spring has sprung, we thought we’d give you a quick update on what’s available in the shop –

-Fresh fruit and veg, including local salad from Straight From The Field in Bramerton

-Milk, butter and a range of lovely cheeses

-Marsh Pig Charcuterie, pies, olives and other deli items

-Local bacon, eggs and other weekend essentials

-Frozen Yare Valley Beef joints and stewing beef (fresh beef coming soon)

-Baking and cupboard essentials

-Frozen ready meals from Brick Pizza, By Ruby, Calzone Kitchen and Currylicious

-Sweet treats, cakes and savoury snacks

-Cold drinks & Dann’s Ice creams

-The whole Yare Valley Oils range and refill station

-The fish van is with us every Thursday 10.30am-3pm with a range of seasonal specials

-We’re open 8am-9pm daily, including bank holidays.

Speed Awareness Group

These are the figures from the speed monitor for the period 26th Feb to 26th Mar. The monitor was located on The Green facing west. The total number of vehicles in this period was 9193.

Approximately 41% of the vehicle movements were below 30mph. 40% were recorded on the 30mph speed limit and 18% above the speed limit.

The monitor is now located on Mill Road for the next 4 weeks.

Sunday Services 3rd April, video and the week ahead

I hope you are keeping well.

We’ve reached the part of Lent that’s called Passiontide, as our thoughts turn towards Holy Week and the cross. This Sunday’s services (3rd) are 9.30am Communion at Claxton and 11am Morning Prayer at Carleton St. Peter. Helen has produced a video service for Passion Sunday that you can watch here

The Barn will host the final Contemplative Prayer evening on Monday (4th) at 7.30pm – a time of stillness, quiet space and reflection. Please use this link if you’d like to join us online:

Saturday sees the last of this year’s Lent Lunches in the Barn. You’re welcome to drop in between 12 Noon and 3pm(Saturday 9th) for homemade soup and scones, bread and cheese and good company!  We’re supporting this year’s Diocesan Lent Appeal for Sag Sag Health Health Centre in Papua New Guinea. 

The following Sunday (10th) is Palm Sunday, and we mark the beginning of Holy Week by worshiping together at Rockland’s 10am Communion, followed by refreshments in the Barn.
