Surlingham

The Surlingham Newsletter contains reports from the Parochial Church Council, Surlingham Parish Council and notices provided by village groups.

It is delivered by volunteers to EVERY dwelling in the village and is the easiest way to publicise forthcoming events (dependant on available space) in our village…. FOR FREE.

The next edition of the Surlingham newsletter for June & July will be printed and distributed next weekend.

To mark the Queen’s Jubilee we will be open all throughout the bank holidays with very special options: from a Jubilee cream tea to a fair.

We hope to make it a very special occasion!

St Mary’s Church will be looking very festive over the Jubilee period from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th June. Pop in and enjoy….

• The Crittted (crochet/knitted) Street Party
• The colour and fragrance of the film themed flower festival
• The timeline display provided by the schoolchildren.
• Help find the Queen’s errant corgis,
• Grab a photo opportunity,
• Join the teddy bears party in the children’s area,
• Guess how many knitted Frazzles are in the basket.

There will also be a secondhand bookstore in the tower and plants for sale.

Tea/coffee/squash and cake available at specified times.

Royalist or Republican, saint or sinner please come and enjoy the showcase in our lovely old church, and leave an uplifting comment on the positivity noticeboard 😊

A grey A4 ring binder folder containing information on every burial in the churchyard, with names, dates, position and more has gone missing from the Church.

The folder was normally kept on the wooden box next to the lectern and was available for all visitors to browse.

It might have been borrowed by an enthusiastic historian or removed by mistake. Either way the Parochial Church Council are keen for it to be returned.

Wednesday 18th

• Art Cafe is in the Barn from 10:30-12 noon.

Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd

• Rockland St. Mary’s Flower Festival on the theme of ‘Celebrations’ takes place next weekend with refreshments served in the Barn on both days.

Sunday 22nd

• 10am. Family Worship and Baptism at Surlingham
• 10.30am-12 Noon. Cafe Church in Rockland Parish Room on the theme of Jesus’ Ascension.
• 4.30pm. A Jubilee Songs of Praise in Rockland St Mary’s Church
