Overall this has been another extremely difficult year. The pandemic is still with us and a war in Ukraine means still more uncertainty.
Over the last year some things have changed, others are delayed right across the board.
But, during the year at SNDC we tried “to keep the lights on” We supported the economy distributing £50 million of grants to businesses.
We supported individuals and empowered communities. Many communities jumped in to help, by setting up groups of volunteers to collect prescriptions and groceries etc.
A plaque has been commissioned for every parish and town council across Norfolk to recognise the work of communities during the pandemic. Lady Dannatt, Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Norfolk, approved the plaque designed by a Norwich University of the Arts graduate.
The Help Hub extended its time and currently the impetus is on the response from residents offering to support Ukraine refugees.
Broadland and South Norfolk found ways to work smarter and more collaboratively by working remotely and using online for work and meetings.
Redeployment of staff: leisure centre staff helping with vaccination, hospitals, at the Help Hub and refuse collections to keep services running.
As we learn to live with Covid we need to promote growth, care and cooperation and a living agenda.
