Water Bowser at Surlingham School

Consider your neighbour…….. Are they elderly, infirm, without transport etc? Bring them a gift of water this Christmas…….. There is a water bowser at Surlingham Primary School, Walnut Hill. Please note that you will need to bring something to transport the water home in.

Instructions supplied from Anglian Water

• Please ensure you take something to safely carry the water from the bowser to your home.
• Don’t attempt to carry more than you are able.
• We recommend that you boil the water before using it for cooking or drinking. Water in the bowser is completely safe, but because we don’t know what you’ll use to carry the water home in, we would advise you to boil it before using it for cooking or drinking.

Burst Main

7.55am Update

Thank you for your patience. The repair to the burst water main is proving more complex than initially thought and is taking longer than hoped. We have deployed all available resource to resolve the issue and the supply should be restored to all customers by this evening. Please continue to refer to this page for bowser locations and stores of bottled water.

We will continue to keep customers updated via the website and phone messages.

2.10am Update

NEW BOWSER LOCATIONS ADDED
Additional bowsers with supplies of water have now been delivered to some villages in NR14 and NR15 – the precise locations of these tankers are listed below. More bowsers are on the way to other locations, and we will be putting them out and filling them up all evening. We’ll update our website with these other addresses when they are delivered. But before you set off to collect water from a bowser, please read the instructions below, as you will need to bring something to transport the water home in.
Bowser locations:
• Surlingham Primary School, Walnut Hill, Surlingham, NR14 7DQ
• Cadey Leisure, 12 New Inn Hill, Rockland St. Mary, NR14 7HP
• Gull Inn, Loddon Road, Framingham Pigot, NR14 7PL
• Village Hall, Crookes Road, Bergh Apton, NR15 1BL
• The Fish Inn, Spruce Crescent, Framingham Earl, NR14 7JT
• Railway Tavern, Norwich Ropad, Framingham Earl, NR14 7AB

• Three Rivers Veterinary Surgery, The Street, Poringland, NR14 7RP
• Kings Head Public House, Norwich Road, Brooke, NR15 1AB
• The Three Horsehoes Public House, Alburgh Road, Hempnall, NR15 2NS

Instructions:
• Please ensure you take something to safely carry the water from the bowser to your home.
• Don’t attempt to carry more than you are able.
• We recommend that you boil the water before using it for cooking or drinking. Water in the bowser is completely safe, but because we don’t know what you’ll use to carry the water home in, we would advise you to boil it before using it for cooking or drinking.

We’re still working hard to make sure everyone has access to water, although with around 5,000 homes affected this may take some time. We really appreciate your patience while we carry out this difficult repair, and would be grateful if you could help out elderly or less mobile neighbours or let us know if there’s someone who may be eligible for our Watercare register (www.anglianwater.co.uk/watercare) so that we can get in touch to help them. We will be working all night on the damaged pipework, and we’re really sorry for any inconvenience it has caused.

3pm Update

This is a very complex job on the pipe near our treatment works and because of that it is taking longer than we had initially hoped.

We are doing everything we can to bring people back on water as soon as possible, but unfortunately it now likely that this work will continue overnight.

All possible options are being explored to get things back to normal for people as soon as we can, and we would like to reiterate how sorry we are for the upset and inconvenience that this will have caused.

Once again we will keep people updated via our website and the text message service direct to customers’ phones.

________________________________________________________

We’re very sorry that customers in the Caistor St Edmund, Poringland, Framingham, Mundham, Newton Flotman, Hempnall, Hardwick, Postwick & surrounding areas are experiencing low pressure or are without water this morning because of a burst to a water main in Caistor St Edmund.

We already have a team on site and we’re working hard to bring people back on water as soon as possible. Unfortunately though, because of the complex nature of the repair required, we do expect this to be later this evening.

We are truly sorry for the disruption this will inevitably cause. We are sending text messages to those customers in the affected areas to let them know and we will also be speaking to vulnerable customers who are registered on our WaterCare scheme.

We will continue to update customers through the text message service and our website.
