Surlingham Scarecrow Trail, THIS WEEKEND!

Things are hotting up on the scarecrow front.

We have over 35 confirmed entries and scarecrows are talk of the town!  Rumours tell of headless scarecrows hiding mid-production in sheds, animal scarecrows, sporting scarecrows…in some cases whole families of scarecrows!

To see if the truth is as good as the stories pick up a trail map for only £1.  Available now from the shop and both pubs.  Scarecrows will be scattered all around the village on Saturday and Sunday and the trail map includes a voting slip which will allow you to help choose the ‘peoples favourite’ to win the big cash prize  All proceeds will go to the friends of the school to help fund exciting projects for local children.

Information received from Victoria Chittenden

Essence of Surlingham

As part of this year’s Surlingham Fayre, we’re organising an arts and crafts competition, Essence of Surlingham, which we hope will fire the imagination.  Bring along your entries on the day of the Fayre, which this year is on Saturday August 30 at Padmaloka, also known as Lessingham House, Surlingham.

The competition is open to all and entry is free; entries may be in any art or craft form – photographs, paintings, collage, tapestry, patchwork, pottery, sculpture, mosaics, basketry, and any other art of craft that I’ve missed out of the list.  You can either complete an entry form on the day, or collect one in advance from Surlingham Shop.
