Tomorrow’s Online cafe (Wednesday 22nd March) and more events this month

I hope you’re keeping well. Here’s an update on the Barn’s March programme.

Art Cafe Online March 22nd,10.30am: Charlie will present “Go tell it on the Mountain!” The short and colourful career of James Dickson Innes 1887 – 1914

Next month’s Online Cafe will by our Spring Bring and Share on April 19th where we bring along images and words of all that speaks to us of this Spring and Easter season

Still at the Barn takes our contemplative journey into Passiontide with Still with Healing on Sunday March 26th, 4pm. Words, music, stillness, refreshment and response tohelp us explore healing and wholeness in our lives. A very warm welcome to all. The following Still will be Still with the Cross on Good Friday, April 7th, 2pm.

Our final weekly Warm Welcome Monday is on March 27th, 11am-4pm. It has become an important part of the Barn’s life, and will resume on a monthly basis beginning on April 24th with thanks to our hardworking team.

We enjoyed a lively Art Cafe in the Barn on the 15th, complete with sand art and Out of the Box stories! Our next Cafe will on April 12th,10.30am-12 Noon.

South Norfolk Community Awards 2023

The South Norfolk Community Award nominations are now open!

Those shortlisted for the awards will be invited to attend our awards evening, consisting of a two course sit down meal followed by presentations from our sponsors and councillors.

Nominations Close on 3rd May 2023.

The categories and category descriptions are listed below. If you have a group or individual in mind, please nominate here: https://www.southnorfolkandbroadland.gov.uk/communityawards

  • Inspiration of the Year – someone who strives to achieve their best at work, in their studies, in sports, the arts, or in the community
  • Young Person of the Year – a young person who has made a remarkable and inspiring achievements in support of their community (Aged 18 and under)
  • Volunteer of the Year – an individual who has volunteered their time to make an outstanding contribution to their community
  • Helping Hand Award – a friend, neighbour or carer who always goes the extra mile to help or support others
  • Green at Heart Award – an individual, school, business or community group who has made an extra effort to have a positive impact on the environment.
  • Business in the Community Award – a local business that has led or supported community initiatives and values
  • Community Group of the Year – a community group that has made a significant contribution to the residents of their local area
  • Community Hero – a person who has made a positive impact on an individual or their community. Someone who deserves special recognition for their effort and commitment.

District and Parish Elections Thursday 4th May 2023

Please see the attached documents with all the information regarding both the District and Parish Elections being held in May 2023.

The number of councillors to be elected for each town/parish ot town/parish ward is:

  • Surlingham – 7

Should you wish to be nominated for Parish Councillor, Nomination Papers may be obtained from the offices of the Returning Officer at South Norfolk Council, Horizon Centre, Broadland Business Park, Peachman Way, Norwich, NR7 0WF between the hours of 09:00am and 16:00pm, Monday to Friday no later than 4pm on Tuesday 4th April 2023.

Temporary Traffic Regulation Order Continuation

This Order continues the provisions of the Order dated 16th February 2023 that the road will be temporarily closed (except for access) and the restriction will now continue in effect from 11th to 31st March 2023 (previously 20th February to 10th March 2023) for the duration of the works expected to be about 21 days within the period.

The Norfolk County Council (Surlingham, Bramerton Road) (30 M.P.H. Speed Limit) Amendment Order 2023

Please find attached a copy of the Notice for the above proposed Order together with a PDF plan.

The 1st Notice is to appear in the Eastern Daily Press on the 10th March 2023. The public consultation period for this scheme will close on 6th April 2023. 

Please note that this Notice replaces the 1s Notice which was distributed 06/02/2023.
