Community Speed Watch volunteers – Road Safety Week 2022

Call for Community Speed Watch volunteers – Road Safety Week 2022 

Organised by Brake, the road safety charity, Road Safety Week 2022 runs from 14-20 Nov.

Norfolk Constabulary have over 80 Volunteer Community Speed Watch groups across the county and are using #RoadSafetyWeek to invite them to take part in a week of action, with the aim of reducing speed related collisions.

If you are interested in creating your own Community Speed Watch group for your neighbourhood, please email Community.Speedwatch@norfolk.police.uk.

The Church & Poor Charity – Applications invited

The Surlingham Church & Poor Charity was created in 1909 and modified by the Charity Act 2006 for the relief of financial hardship, either generally or individually for people living in the village of Surlingham.

The charity can assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure occupation of individuals who have need by reason of their youth, age, infirmity, disability, financial, or social circumstances with the aim of improving their conditions of life.

Warning of increased heavy vehicles in the village

The Parish council has been informed that from Monday 7 November 2022 heavy vehicles will be travelling through the village to fill the pit on New Road with hardcore.

The frequency or duration has not been confirmed but it is likely to last for several weeks.

Please take care especially in New Road/Pond Lane, the school has been notified.

It is thought the lorries will travel via Surlingham Lane.
