Parish Council – Emergency Plan

The Parish Council is developing a community based Emergency Plan, to be put into operation ONLY in the event of exceptional circumstances; Surlingham is cut off from all normal services for an extended period of time or an extreme incident for example:

Extreme and severe weather – blocking/restricting access to the village and preventing pedestrian or vehicular movement for a prolonged period of time.

The Co-ordinators and volunteers would only be called upon until the emergency services were able to attend.

Volunteers are needed with the following skills or knowledge:

  • Access Clearance – people skilled in the use of, and in possession of chain saws, tractors, and 4 wheel drive vehicles.
  • Medical Aid – people with either a medical or basic first aid qualification or experience.
  • Welfare – people to assist at the parish hall to provide refreshment, and support.

If you would be prepared to help in such a situation, please email: surlinghampc@outlook.com with your name, telephone number, and details of the skills you can offer by 30 May 2021.

Thank you

Spurious letters advertising Next-door app.

It has been brought to our attention that some people have received letters through their door about a ‘Next door’ app.  We have also been told that this is a money-making app that uses people’s data without their permission and as far as we know there is no ‘Next door’ site for Surlingham – the nearest is Brundall.

We mention this in case anyone is thinking about getting the app.
