Raising money for charity in Surlingham

2020 is a critical year for the campaign to build a new £12.5 million 24 bed hospice for Norfolk and Waveney to replace Priscilla Bacon Lodge. Over £6.5 million has been raised, but there is still a long way to go. With your support, together we can make this happen. We should have 47-59 specialist palliative care beds in Norfolk, but we have just 16. The population is growing and people are living longer, so greater capacity is urgently needed. The new Priscilla Bacon Hospice will boast the most modern facilities and a wider range of services, giving people a greater choice of care. The new build will also accommodate additional specialist palliative care beds should further funding be acquired in the future.

CRAIG NEAVE FROM SURLINGHAM is entering the inaugural Tour de Broads cycling event to Great Yarmouth tomorrow, Saturday 15th August to raise money for The Priscilla Bacon Lodge appeal.

Craig’s initial target was a modest £75 but at the time of writing, over £1,500 has been pledged. Can you spare a few pounds? Perhaps our Surlingham community can get him to £2,000? Click here to visit Craig’s fund raising page.

For more information about the Priscilla Bacon Hospice charity, please visit their website here.

Food glorious food

What a week of weather! Sun, sun, heat, hot, hooooot and then rain, slight cool, then sweaty, hot hot.

Welcome to Yare Valley Weather Pastcast. For all your ‘We know you idiot, we were there’ information needs

Ooooh, before we forget. Lots of ice cream in, it may rain, but at least you can scoff a delicious treat whilst it does so, lots of oven ready pizzas, choccys, treats, cheeses, frozen tasty meats and fresh milk just in. And still grab those apples from our trees outside the pool whether you be making cider or applejuice or love a lovely crunch. Kitchen cupboard essential and much much more.

Have a super weekend whatever you do. If you need to know what the weather was like yesterday, unfortunately I have already forgotten, but great food we do have.

Love from the wild side

YARE VALLEY
