A thank you from the WI

Surlingham WI would like to thank all those who supported our Christmas Bingo. And a big thank you to those who kindly helped get the hall ready and clear away afterwards.

It was a very successful evening and we do hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Best wishes and a Happy Christmas,

Gillian Stiff, on behalf of the WI members

Beef in and Christmas update from the farm

Greetings you wonderful people you. Just a quick message to say we have a perfectly timed arrival of our Belted Galloway grass fed rare breed beef coming in this Friday the lucky 13th of December. Be sure to pop down for a wide array of cuts for now or to prep for the big day. It will be the last batch in before 2025 and judging how the quickly the last batch went we would advise you get down this weekend to have a look through and select from this wonderful beef.

Alec and his Fresh Fish Van will be here at the farm tomorrow 12th Dec and then again Thurs 19th Dec with his usual 1:30pm until 2:30pm slot and then will be away on holiday and back again same time Thursday 9th Jan 2025 as usual. Do not miss out if you need some delicious fresh fish from him, he has a fantastic selection.

We have a few more of the Christmas Trees left which have again been popular so worth getting yours this weekend if you can/ are in need of a bootiful tree.

Teles is open as usual and with a great option of sweet or savoury snack and drinks, perfect for that winter walk.

The shop will be open as always 8am until 9pm every single day including all weekends and bank holidays and weekends so you can get some treats, gifts, kitchen cupboard essentials and more. There are some wonderful Christmas themed gifts and treats, local Christmas cards and books, pizzas, chocolate, frozen fish, drinks, ready meals, eggs, and much more.

We sell so many crisps here at the farm so we got some dips in. Absolutely no interest. The public have spoken, so we wont be getting them in any more. We also sell tinned soup. Tried fresh in the fridge. No interest. Every day you all mystify and have me in awe and I have realised over the years that the one thing I know about retail… is that I know absolutely nothing about retail. And that fascinates me.

Anyways, we know it is a bit early, but in case I fly off to the Caribbean for a few weeks to lap up some bountiful Vitamin D, we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year wherever you are and whatever you are doing!

Yare Valley x

Canoes at Surlingham Staithe

2 canoes kept at the Staithe have been blown off their racks. They are both green canoes and are number 03 and 09. One is quite close to the water and the tides are high at present.

Agenda for Surlingham Parish Council’s meeting being held on Tuesday 10th December 2024

Posted in News | Comments Off on Agenda for Surlingham Parish Council’s meeting being held on Tuesday 10th December 2024

Would you like to host Mary & Joseph for a few days?

Reverend Nick has figures of Mary and Joseph. Can you host them for a few days this advent on their travels around our village before they reach the Church for the Carol service on December 22nd?

They are accompanied by a book where you can make a record of their visit; anything from a full story or just a simple picture or poem.
