Peahen owner? – update

The Peahen has been living in different gardens for around 12 months and is looked after by local residents.  Nobody seems to know where it came from but advice has been taken on its welfare.

Information received from John Stokoe and Dawn Tetley.

I have noticed a Peahen hanging around some properties on The Street. I spoke to one of the residents and they said the peahen did not belong to anyone in the vicinity. Although she was given some food I thought I would find out whom she belonged to and I am concerned for her safety as she wanders across the road and cars drive very quickly at times. I was wondering if anyone knew of someone in the area who owned a peahen that was missing? She can fly quite well so could have flown across from Brundall area. Any help in locating her home would be gratefully appreciated.

Use contact us if you have any information.

Information received from Donna Roffey

FOSS ‘BUSY BEE’ Sunday 12th March 10am-2pm at School

FOSS ‘BUSY BEE’, Sunday 12th March, 10am-2pm at School

Help us tidy and brighten up the School grounds ready for the Spring!

We are borrowing an Australian idea suggested by one of the Parents in School.  A Busy Bee is an event where Community, Parents and Friends get together to carry out a few jobs around the school grounds, have a chat and a cuppa and hopefully a bit of a laugh at the same time.  We held the first event in 2015 and it was a great success.  School now have a new  list of jobs for us so it’s time for Busy Bee 2!

Jobs on the list include the following (more may be added!):

  • Fence painting
  • Weeding the veggie patches
  • Washing and cleaning toys and outdoor equipment in the Early Years area
  • Planting up pots and beds for Spring and Summer colour
  • Small DIY tasks (like fixing the shed doors)
  • Sweeping and tidying the yard.

It would be lovely if anyone who is free on the day could join us at School but even if you can’t make it we would be happy to accept the following things to help out:

  • Donations of plants.
  • Donations of compost / bark chippings.

Contact the committee for more info (<email address removed: webmaster>) to offer help! (or just turn up..)

The Calm After the Storm.

After storm Doris hit many hard yesterday, today is indeed the calm after the storm. If you are thinking of popping out this weekend we have some wonderful goodies for you listed below. Remember, whether you are out on a walk, cycle, drive, jet ski, abseil or hand-glide, we have something for you. With our free Wifi, hot and cold drinks including fresh filter coffee (we are currently putting a brew on only at weekends, but if you are coming in during the week just give us a heads up if you would like us to put a batch on for you as it takes minutes to prepare) and lots of food for thought. Or thought for food…
In the Fridge:
Lots of local cheese, cold drinks including posh pop, Norfolk Yogurt, Butter, jerky and many many wonderful cuts of our farm reared beef including rump, sirloin, brisket, topside, silver-side, fillet, braising steak, mice and much more.

Veg:
Parsnips, cabbages, cauliflower, cooking and eating apples, Red and White onions and more.

Freezer:
Many more cuts of our farm reared beef, perfect for your Sunday roast or indeed any night of the week, sausages, bacon, Little Norfolk Kitchen Ready meals made by head chef Andy Snowling, Norfolk Ice Cream and more.

Oils:
Not only can you buy all of our infusions, dressings, marinades and original oil pre-bottled, you can also use our refill station. Simply buy one of our suitable pop top bottles then pay for the oil you choose to put into it. Next time you come back, you only have to pay for the oil you put in the bottle, making a great saving and giving you the flexibility to try whichever oil you so choose.

Our Shelving of kitchen cupboard essentials and treats:

This we don’t shout about enough. To be fair, had we shouted yesterday you would not of heard us over the wind anyway. Here there is Letheringsett Watermill flour, oats and muesli (from the only working watermill in Norfolk), Grey Seal Coffee (that we use to make our fresh filter coffee with, Honey from the village, Jams, chutneys, hot chocolate shots (where you just add warm milk and you have a creamy, coco treat), Norfolk Biscotti (gluten free available too) and from Rainbow Wholefoods lots of essentials to help you make a complete meal with pasta, tinned tomatoes, sugar, stock cubes, red wine and cyder vinegar and more.

Courtesy of Tiger Lilly flowers in the village we have some beautiful bouquets of flowers for you or your loved one, we have freshly brewed filter coffee for £2, regular tea, instant coffee and hot chocolate for £1, bags fire wood for only £3, big bags of spuds for £3.50 and our usual hen (£1.15 1/2 dozen), duck (£1.80 1/2 dozen) and quails eggs (£2.50 for a dozen).

From all of us at the farm, have a wonderful weekend.
