Important info for the Farm Shop

Bonjour All! Just a quick note to say tomorrow 8th Nov and Thurs 9th Nov we have some high tech boffins coming to the farm to update and refresh our internet and other magical things they do. Therefore we ask as the card machine may be down at certain parts of these days that you bring in cash to purchase your goodies in case. There will be a payment tin and change at the payment table. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

The Fish Van will be back as per this Thursday 9th Nov 2023 1:30pm until 3pm after the storms we had last week so be sure to come see what Alec has to offer.

We also have more Christmassy gifts and tasty treats coming in later this week including mince pies, gingerbread characters and gingerbread Christmas trees, just in time for gifts and Christmas dining. Crazy to think it is now only a few weeks away. We even have hampers out for you to buy. Simply fill your hamper with items of your choice from the shop to make your bespoke gift and then wrap it with all the wrapping and ribbons provided. Then pay for all your items plus the cost of the hamper itself (£5.50).

Our farm grown 12.5kg bags of spuds are now available in the shop for just £5 a bag.

In regards to fresh beef we will hopefully be getting more in before and in time for Christmas so watch out for a newsletter informing this. If you are not on our shop newsletter just email a request to info@yarevalleyoils.co.uk and we will get you listed for all shop updates.

And finally may we wish you all a wonderful week

The Ferry House is Open Today – wellies needed!

The lane is flooded but we are planning on staying open as usual. It’s warm and cosy with the heating on and the fire alight and the delicious smell of Sunday roasts being prepared.

Bring your wellies and park at the top of the lane or drive down at your own risk.

If we close early the pub lights will be off which you’ll be able to see from the top of the lane.

Poppy display in Church

The church butterflies in the aerial display above the altar have flown south for the winter; many thanks to all who contributed to the display and came to see them.

They will be replaced by poppies for Remembrance Sunday. If you would like to make a paper poppy (or two, or more) to go on the net your contribution can be left in the porch or at Mayfield, Ferry Corner.

For more information, please contact Alexandra on Surlingham 538234.

Please note the harvest festival display from the school children is still there and well worth a look.

Information from Alexandra Evans

Bye bye butterflies….

Greater Norwich Local Plan (GNLP) – update

In accordance with the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (as amended) and Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 (as amended), the Greater Norwich Development Partnership is inviting comments on the proposed Main Modifications to the GNLP.

The GNLP was submitted to the Planning Inspectorate in July 2021 for examination.  Examination hearings, led by independent Inspectors appointed by the Secretary of State, took place during 2022 and 2023.  As set out in the hearing sessions, there are a number of main modifications required to the Plan in order for the Inspectors to consider it sound and legally compliant.  Schedules of proposed Main Modifications have been prepared and the Partnership has been notified by the Inspectors that the consultation on the modifications can proceed.

The consultation will commence at midday on Wednesday 25 October 2023 and conclude at midday on Wednesday 6 December 2023.

The proposed Main Modifications to the GNLP are those which the Inspectors consider are necessary to make the GNLP sound and/or legally compliant.  They are proposed without prejudice to the Inspectors’ final conclusions on the GNLP which will take account of representations submitted in response to this consultation.  The Main Modifications have been subject to updated Sustainability Appraisal and Habitats Regulations Assessment which are also available to comment on along with Policies Map changes.

Representations relating to the Main Modifications should be made regarding legal compliance and soundness issues only.  This is not an opportunity to raise again matters relating to other parts of the submitted GNLP that have already been considered by the Inspectors during the Examination or to submit further evidence.  The Inspectors will only consider representations which relate specifically to the proposed Main Modifications and the other consultation documents before reaching their final conclusions on the Plan.

Alongside the consultation documents, the Partnership is publishing Additional Modifications which it intends to make on adoption of the GNLP, along with other documents for information only.  These are outside the scope of the Main Modifications consultation and comments are not invited on them.  They do not form part of the Inspectors’ examination of the Plan.

Where you can view the consultation documents

The consultation documents will be available to view on the GNLP website at www.gnlp.org.uk.  Hard copies will be available for public viewing during normal office hours at the following locations:
