No fish Van tomorrow plus more…#

Just a quick not to say the Fish Van will NOT be here tomorrow Thursday 2nd Nov. Alec will be back again with the Fish Van next Thursday 9th Nov 2023 1:30pm until 3pm as usual.

Now that Halloween is over for another year we hope you escaped without your house being egged and too high a sugar rush. Retail swiftly moves to concentrating on getting your hard earn cash spent on Christmas goodies and we of course are no different. We will be getting in our hampers next week so you can grab local and tasty bits from the shop, put them in one of our hampers and give it as a gift to a loved one. Or even an enemy, completely up to you. The hampers are £5.50 each so just add it to the running tally of the bits you put in it and pay at the self service check out as usual. Each hamper comes with its own ribbon and wrapping.

We will also be getting in our usual gluten and dairy free (but not taste free) mince pies, biscuits, ginger bread characters, fudge and more. These are really fab and suit everyone as you honestly wouldn’t know they were gluten and dairy free.

Teles Patisserie now getting ready for Christmas and Christmas orders as well as having a delectable selection of pastries, lunches, snacks and hot and cold drinks as per. Open 10am until 4pm Tuesday through to Sunday (closed Mondays). Also ask about their specials as there is often a super deal to be had and as always they are great stop when walking, cycling, swimming, shopping or even flying… Only joking… you can’t swim here…

The shop is full to the brim as always with goodies so do let us know by emailing info@yarevalleyoils.co.uk if there is anything we are missing that you absolutely must get your hands on. Spuds are to come next week hopefully as the team have been flat out harvesting and with the weather it has been a bit of a challenge for farmers. 12.5kg for only £4.50 so these are a must grab!

Our veg is all freshly topped up with tenderstem and sprouting broccoli (these are sooo good), squashes, cabbage, peppers, local potatoes (not ours yet) and more.

There is also lots of our farm reared beef in the freezer, frozen pizzas, icecream, snacks and all those kitchen cupboard essentials. Our offer of 2x packs of frozen mince for only £6.50 is still on so be sure to grab a couple as is such a great deal.

Ooooo! Plus we have our first Christmas Cards in. These are for Redwings Charity and really are beautiful and only £4 per pack of 10x cards

Whatever you do, have a super week all

School Harvest festival – come and see what they did

Our School marked Harvest Time with a celebration held at the Church on 17th October.
They decorated three boards with their thoughtful writing and beautiful patterned paper leaves and butterflies. All are welcome to come and see them at the church.

Polite notice – overgrown hedges/shrubs

Surlingham Parish Council has no power to force householders/landowners to maintain hedges/shrubs on their boundaries. That responsibility lies with Norfolk County Council (NCC) Highways Department.

Householders do have a responsibility to ensure hedges/shrubs do not encroach footpaths. The first step should always be for the parishioner to approach the householder and explain the problem.

If the Parish Council is contacted a polite letter will be sent asking the householder to comply with the request. However, the complainant should consider contacting NCC Highways if the problem persists.

Thank you for your understanding.

Fish Van

Just a quick not to say the Fish Van will be here tomorrow Thursday 19th Oct as usual 1:30pm until 3pm so do not miss out!

With Halloween on the way we have both orange and ghost pumpkins. As someone said in the shop yesterday, pumpkins are not just for Halloween. And they are right. A simple search for recipes online and pumpkin uses become vast.

Our veg is all freshly topped up with tenderstem and sprouting broccoli (these are sooo good), spinach, salad, carrots, squashes, cabbage, peppers, potatoes and more. We are harvesting our own spuds now and hopefully in next week or so our great unwashed 12.5kg should be available at brilliant value in the shop.
There is also lots of our farm reared beef in the freezer, frozen pizzas, icecream, snacks and all those kitchen cupboard essentials.

Whatever you do, have a super week all
