And boooom! Christmas is just round the corner! Can you believe that another year isn’t gone? And what a… unique year this has been!

First things first: we can’t thank Surlingham enough for everything. For having welcome us two and a half years ago. For making us feel part of our lovely community. For all your help, love, concern and support in this challenging year. THANK YOU.

We just want to thank everyone back and we are always here to help. So everything we have been doing this year, we will continue to do. We will help those who need in every single aspect. So if you need us Justi ping us an email or call.

Now Christmas! We will carry on with our usual opening times and we will only close on xmas day. So we are open on Boxing Day and Sunday so you can fuel up your walk with hot drinks and yummy treats.

In the meantime we will be fully stocked with wonderful cakes for the festive season, including our indulgent mince pies, gifts, decorations and wine (a wide variety of res portuguese wine and dessert wines).

Just one more thing: whatever you do, please stay safe and protect your family & friends & village.

People across Norfolk and Waveney urged to join Covid Vaccine Team.

The NHS in Norfolk and Waveney is still on the hunt for thousands of vaccinators and support staff to help protect millions of people from COVID-19 quickly when a safe and effective vaccine becomes available.

By bolstering its workforce, the NHS will be able to offer the public potentially life-saving protection from coronavirus in a range of locations, focusing on the most at-risk groups first, whilst at the same time keeping A&Es, elective surgery, GPs and community services going.

Roles we are seeking to fill across Norfolk and Waveney include:

 · Clinical Operational Supervisors

· Registered Practitioners

· Immunisers

· Front of house receptionists

· Post-vaccination Observation Support Volunteers

Parliament recently changed the law to allow a wider group of people to undertake training to deliver vaccines e.g., paramedics, physios, pharmacists, dental professionals, and healthcare scientists. In all cases, appropriate training, supervision, and PPE will be provided to ensure the safety of staff, volunteers, and our patients.

Vaccinators and supporting staff and volunteers will potentially work across a range of different vaccine facilities, with local plans to be finalised when the details of approved vaccines are available and a decision on which groups should be the first to get it has been made by the Government.

We are still OPEN AS NORMAL!

Open every day from 9am for Breakfasts, with food being served all day. While the Ferry is open all our menu is available as a takeaway. To help staff, booking is very helpful and avoids any disappointment.

We are offering a substantial meal in a basket, 2 sausages and chips for £3, to go with your pint., served all day.

From Monday 21st December until New Year, we will be offering a substantial platter for 2 at £10 to go with your pints. Booking for this is essential.

For the first time in my 13 years here at The Ferry House, we will be closed on Christmas Day.

We aim to say open, from Monday 4th January we will be open, but our hours will change Monday to Thursday 9am to 4pm, Friday to Sunday all day, food being served 9am.

You’re in luck, no more terrible jokes until next year. But really we just wanted to thank you all for everything this crazy 2020 year.

With its utter roller coaster journey, we all know it is not all over yet, but we couldn’t be prouder of such a wonderful community (yes we are getting soppy for a moment) and how everyone has come together and all the fab new people we have met. We have learnt a lot and are every growing, but we can only continue with your support so please do let us know what/when we can do anything for you.

We are open 8am-9pm every single day. Every… single… day. With so many goodies. Just had huge batch of pizzas delivered, fresh bread, choccies, fish and so much more. The 2xpacks of mince for only £5 is a must!

P.s if you know of anyone that needs anything delivering etc over Christmas we wont let anyone go without if we can help so just call Glenn on 07868825109 and we can see what we can do.

As we are now in a prolonged time in tier 2 and all the restrictions that imposes, Christmas will be limited to one household only coming to the pub and New Year celebrations are cancelled along with the rising cases of Covid we have taken the decision that Christmas Eve will be our last day open for the time being.

If we remain in tier 2 we will close until reopening on Friday February 12th, if we are downgraded to tier 1 we will reopen earlier, and, of course, if we go to tier 3 we will be closed anyway.

Updates will follow as changes are made by government.

This is a really awful time for all hospitality businesses having lost four and a half months of trade but we feel that this closure will be best for our customers, staff and our business and we are really looking forward to opening with some degree of normality in the spring hoping that early March will see us return to a seven day trading week with far fewer rules and regulations that have made pub life so difficult.

We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a much better new year, but above all else please keep safe and well.
