Chrissie Ryding will be delivering the next Surlingham food parcel to The Trussell Food Bank in Norwich on Monday 29th June.

If you would like to contribute, please leave your donations in the porch at The Willows, 16 The Street by 9am on Monday.

The food bank have advised that they are actually doing quite well for most foods, but need ‘smash’ and long life fruit juices. They also require toiletries, particularly shower gel and ladies deodorant.

Local Beat Manager, PC Locke, has been patrolling the Poringland area after reports of ASB, particularly around the play park/recreational areas. The majority of people are still adhering to the guidelines and restrictions but if you have information around the ASB issues then please contact PC Locke on 101 or via email

Welcome back to your church!

Surlingham Church is re-opening every Wednesday between 10am to 5pm, commencing from June 24th onwards.

The church will be open for private prayer for one person or one household at a time. Please would visitors use the sanitiser inside the door when arriving and leaving.

So so so much in this weekend including lots of fab Fathers Day ideas. Do not even get me started on whether Fathers Day needs an apostrophe or not. We have BBQ ideas, salads, veg, eggs, potatoes, meats, oils, fish, strawbs, rasps, flour, kitchen cupboard essential, wild boar, venison, chicken, ice cream and much much more.

Either way, looking past the bad grammar and terrible spelling as always, big waves and love to you all, happy shopping, and whatever you do this weekend, may it be fab and full of joy.

Annual Governance and Accountability Return 2019/2020

Below are the links to the documents that relate to the Parish Council accounts and accountability.

For the year 2019/2020 turnover was below £25,000 p.a. Therefore, this year the Parish Council submits a Certificate of Exemption to the external auditor PKF Littlejohn LLP and there is no requirement for an external audit.

The accounts will be available for inspection as explained in the Notice of Public Rights document below, for 30 working days from 22 June 2020 to 31 July 2020.

The following arrangements will apply during the Coronavirus

Contact the Clerk on 01508 538921 to arrange an appointment

The accounts will be taken to the Parish Hall for inspection on the agreed day and time

Hand sanitizer will be available if residents do not have their own and social distancing rules will apply

The accounts will then be unavailable for 72 hours after each inspection to ensure there is no cross contamination.

Copies of documents will be charged at 10p per copy. The copies will be made and delivered to the resident’s home address.

The paint has been scraped from the play equipment and the wood will be treated with preservative. The costs incurred will be paid from the Parish Precept.

If there are further episodes and the culprits identified the Parish Council will not hesitate to take appropriate action.
