A Happy and Healthy New Year to you all.

The Parish Council will be setting the Precept at this meeting and also discussing the process for the appointment of the Trustees of the Surlingham Charities for 2018 to 2021. According to the Terms set down by the Charity a Trustee’s term of office is 3 years.

Volunteers met on Saturday to begin preparing the ground for the community orchard project. We were lucky as the weather stayed dry so we’re off to a good start!

Next working party date – Saturday February 10 starting at 10am.

This will be a light-hearted quiz and regular and new Ferry House quizzers are all welcome. Either book a table with the Ferry directly (01508 538659) to finish eating before quizzing starts at 8pm, or join us just for the quiz. Come as a team (not too large please) or we will find you some team mates on the night.

No charge for the quiz but there will be a collection for St Martin’s Housing Trust in Norwich. St Martin’s helps the homeless build a better life in Norwich and Norfolk.

This Saturday morning a number of local residents are starting work on a community orchard on one of the allotment plots.  Everyone is welcome – we’ll be meeting on the allotment next to the play garden at 10 am on Saturday morning.  Please bring garden equipment with you – and gloves.  If you choose to join us you’ll be most welcome – and if you want more information then contact Pat Scowen on 538 791
