It is likely in the coming days and weeks that elderly and or vulnerable people in our village may need assistance.

The Parish Council would like to help. Sarah Broom has kindly offered to establish and organise a small team of volunteers who are willing to help with shopping, collecting prescriptions, posting mail or making friendly phone calls as required.

Sarah’s contact details will be published in the next edition of the newsletter due at the end of this month. Are you able and willing to join her team of volunteers?

Sylvia has made a decision to close the shop and Post Office for ONE WEEK due to the current situation.  She hasn’t made this decision lightly and has had to be encouraged by her family to do so.  With her underlying health problems they feel it is a real risk to her to stay open at this time.  You all know Sylvia is a real trooper and would stay open if at all possible.

Hopefully you will all agree that this is a necessary precaution to keep Sylvia and her customers safe.

Many thanks for your continuing support for our village shop and Post Office.

• Washing hands for 20 seconds is still central to the expanded public awareness campaign to prevent and slow the spread of coronavirus.

• For those that need medical help, NHS 111 has an online coronavirus service that can tell you if you need medical help and advise you what to do.

Individuals should not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.

The public should use the 111 service if:

• they think they might have coronavirus

• in the last 14 days they have been to a country or area with a high risk of coronavirus – see our coronavirus advice for travellers

• they have been in close contact with someone with coronavirus

• If there’s a chance individuals could have coronavirus they may be asked to stay away from other people (self-isolation advice can be found here).
