With Christmas fast approaching it may seem a bit premature to ask you to look to the New Year. However, here is a date for your diary…….
There will be a public meeting on Thursday 9 January 2020 at Surlingham Parish Hall chaired by Norfolk County and South Norfolk District Councillor Vic Thomson to hear about the proposed work on the Wherryman’s Way in Bramerton, Surlingham and Rockland St Mary.
There will be a presentation by Norfolk County Council Senior Trails Officer, Russell Wilson with time during the evening for questions from the public.
Surlingham Parish Hall will be open from 7:00 pm so that local residents have an opportunity to look at a display of information boards. The meeting will start at 7:30 pm.
All residents are very welcome to attend.

If you’re visiting us today be aware that the lane is partially flooded so take care, drive slowly and bring your wellies!

That is all for now…
Oh yes… we have some Christmas Trees just in! Do pop down to the shop to grab yours. Open 8am-9pm and we have to say, the shop is packed with more unique and special and delicious goodies than ever before!
Teles Patisserie will also be open until 4pm this weekend for gorgeous treats and warming drinks when you are out for that wonderful walk. We hear the weather is not looking rainy, but we wont say it, just in case we jinx it!
Have a super weekend everyone. To all of you residents and to all of you super local businesses we send big hugs and waves. Here is to the build up of a wonderful Christmas for all.
Following the success if our autumn event, we will be hosting a winter, spring and summer Mindful Morning in the Woods.
The next one will be on Wednesday 11th of December 2019, 10.30am-12.30pm at Wheatfen Forest School
Enjoy a morning of nature connection and craft activities with forest school leader and fellow villager, Amy Shawcross, followed by cake around the campfire.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Craig Hill as Head Chef here at Coldham Hall, Craig brings a wealth of experience having been the Head Chef at The Eagle in Cambridge, one of the busiest pubs in East Anglia. He has come to Surlingham to be able to run his own kitchen with appetising food without the controlling influences of a big corporation which will allow him to grow and promote our rural riverside independent pub.
With his newly appointed kitchen staff he has produced a really appealing Winter menu and has included some winter warmers such as suet puddings, and a great selection of vegetarian dishes, see the menu at http://www.coldhamhall.com/menu
Under Craig’s guidance we have invested in new kitchen equipment which will enable us to produce food quicker in the summer months and alleviate some of the waiting times we experienced during a few of the warm weekends this year, without compromising the quality of traditional cooking and use of local ingredients that we have always promoted.
Over this year Keeleigh, our Events Manager, has had great success in hosting weddings, private parties etc utilising our new outside bar and refurbished patio area and Craig is looking to expand on these activities and will be pleased to discuss menus etc for any forthcoming parties and events planned. For large events exclusive use of Coldham Hall has been possible.
Coldham Hall is open for food 7 days a week, 12.00 to 14.30, 18.00 to 20.30 (Sunday 12.00 to 16.00) the bar being open 12.00 until late every day all through the winter except Christmas Day which will be the only closed day.
