A few useful tips for using our Self-Service shop at the moment: 

• We now have a method of talking to your directly in the shop as well as our CCTV so we can give any assistance/guidance to you whilst you shop – if you need any help at all then please call the Farm number on 01508 538206
• 2 people maximum in the shop at any one time – please make sure you stick to this for everyone’s safety. This includes if a staff member is in the shop and includes children too
• Send one adult to do the shop, meaning we can have two households shopping at any one time
• Keep the shop door closed at all times
• Use your phone calculator to add up as you shop – this will save you having to go back and check the prices
• We do regular stock checks so we don’t need a record of what you’ve bought written down, just correct payment please
• The new limit for contactless payments is £45. Please stick to a minimum spend of £10 for all card payments
• If it’s raining remember your umbrella, in case you need to wait outside
• The Foodbank is now under the cake table, to the right of the card machine, please use it if you can 🙂
• Next Friday 8th is Bank Holiday, the shop will be open as normal but we will be doing our home deliveries for those who are vulnerable/isolating on Thursday. If you need a delivery on Thursday please let us know by Wednesday morning 🙂
• We have fresh LAMB coming in next week – keep an eye on your emails, we will send a newsletter out once it’s in the fridge

Clerks comment- This letter was sent to the Parish Council. However, I feel it is appropriate to also direct it to the volunteers and the communty as a whole.

To: All who serve on Parish and Town Councils

You have a proud tradition of supporting your communities and this has been especially evident during this pandemic.

Within days of the social distancing guidance starting, many of you had created volunteer registers and were reaching out to those in need through social media, leaflets, posters, and through the work of your clerk.

Many of you are ensuring that residents in need can get support night and day through a dedicated mobile number. You have been supporting those who most need it by delivering medicines, essentials and even walking dogs or buying newspapers. This means that those who most need to be home at the moment don’t feel alone.

The fantastic way in which our parish and town councils have responded to the challenge of coronavirus across the country is a testament to the unique and cherished position you occupy within our local government family.

You are coming up with creative ways to help your communities; this work is appreciated across the nation, and also inspiring others to get involved and help their own communities.

It is vital that you are able to continue the incredible work you are doing, and on behalf of the communities across the country I thank you all.

Norfolk Police are urging volunteers using their vehicles to offer their services, to ensure they are covered by the correct vehicle insurance policy.

Volunteers who are using their vehicles to offer their services are being warned that they may not automatically be covered by their regular vehicle insurance policy. Although some insurers cover volunteer driving within their regular insurance policies, others may charge an extra premium or impose a higher excess for volunteers who are travelling in their own vehicle.

As part of the Road Traffic Act every person who uses, causes, or permits another person to use a motor vehicle on a road or other public place must have a policy of insurance in respect of third-party risks.

Officers are issuing the following advice to volunteers who are using their vehicles to carry out their services:

• Contact your insurer to find out if you are covered by your regular motor insurance policy.
• Always include your volunteer driving miles when declaring your annual mileage to your insurer If you use a voluntary organisation’s vehicle for volunteer driving.
•  You should be covered by the voluntary organisation’s insurance, but you MUST always check with each organisation to be sure.

Kris Barnard head of the Joint Roads and Armed Policing Team said: “If you do not have the correct insurance policy for your specific use of a vehicle, you are committing an offence and could be subject to a fine.

Officers have the power to stop road users and are likely to question their necessity for travelling, advising accordingly. We may also undertake basic checks to see if you hold a valid license to drive and also that you have the correct insurance cover in place.”

Dear All,

On Sunday the Church of England launched a free phone line called Daily Hope. It’s available 24 hours a day and offers four options: a message from the Archbishop, a talk on a different well-known hymn every day, some much-loved hymns, or prayers and advice about the current pandemic.

It’s open to anyone, but we especially hope it will offer hope and support to many who have no internet access (it’s estimated that 2.5 million people aged 75 and over in the UK have never been online).

Please would you pass on the freephone number (0800 804 8044) to any friend or neighbour you feel would wish to hear about it. I’ve attached a poster below that can be put up in a window or displayed on your favourite noticeboard. We can also print and laminate copies if you need them.

Chrissie Ryding is delivering items to The Trussell Food Bank in Norwich on Monday 4th May.

If you would like to contribute, please leave your donations in her porch at The Willows, 16 The Street by 9am on Monday.

The food bank have advised that they would particularly like tinned tomatoes and pasta sauces. Tinned and dried food that will last is ideal and preferable to fresh food with a limited shelf life.
