At the Annual Parish meeting Vic Thomson gave indepth reports on the progress of both Norfolk County Council and South Norfolk District Council.
Usually these reports would be circulated with the draft minutes of the meeting. However, as some of the items mentioned are date sensitive and the draft minutes are not due to be circulated yet, the reports are attached.

Just a little reminder about the quiz at the Ferry on Friday 27th April in aid of East Anglian Children’s Hospices’ (EACH) new hospice, ‘the nook’, at Framingham Earl. (See end of post for more about the nook **.)
Either come as a team or we we will find you one. Please could you limit team size to six people and FINISH EATING BY 8PM. This will enable us to rearrange the seating slightly for the quiz so that everyone can sit in their teams comfortably and hear the quiz master. And if you are not eating could you arrive a little before 8pm please.

Sapientia Education Trust is looking into the provision of childcare for children aged 3 & 4 years old
This includes nursery and preschool provision in Surlingham, Rockland St Mary and the surrounding villages. Please take a couple of minutes to answer a few questions; your feedback will help to shape future provision.

The regular South Norfolk Village Litter Pick is scheduled for Saturday 21 April 2018 with a 10:00a.m. start.
No need to register just turn up at the Ferry House and see Barbara Rix who will have the equipment for you provided by South Norfolk District Council
I have been asked to raise awareness of the recent appearance of white dog pooh bags appearing around the village. In particular several have been left on the footpath to Surlingham Church Marsh. Also Pooh bags left hanging on the play park fence and by the allotments.
Under the Public Spaces Protection Order made under section 59 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. It is and offence for a person in control of a dog not to clear up the dog mess immediately on any land that is open to the air and to which the public is entitled or permitted to have access.
Can I remind dog owners that there is a Dog Pooh Bin at the top of New road by the path to the playpark and allotments? Also, that Dog Pooh bags can be disposed of in general household waste bins.

NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Order affecting the U78020 The Street from its junction with Leachs turn (track) southwards for a distance of 100 metres in the PARISH OF SURLINGHAM because of installation of a new BT duct.
The road will be temporarily closed (except for access) from 30th April 2018 to 2nd May 2018 for the duration of the works, expected to be 3 days within the period
Alternative route is via: The Common, Ferry Road, New Road, School Lane, The Green, The Covey, The Street.
(If necessary the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date of the Order).
Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance.
